Gallop into my writing!

Month: September 2014

A Sample from my Reading Journal

The name of this book is Is Your Mama a Llama?  The llama is asking her friends if her mama is a llama.  My favorite character is the little llama because she is a llama who wants to know stuff.

Summer Box

(With thanks to Bobbi Katz for her wonderful poem, ‘What Shall I Pack in the Box Marked “Summer”?’)

The tweet tweet of the robins,

A splash in the pool,

Do you wish you did that in summer too?

The screaming when you went down the slide,

The smell of burgers cooking inside,

The feeling of the water,

The feeling of covers on my in my cozy, cozy bed,

The pillow must have been happy,

To help me rest my head.

The sound of carrots–crunch, crunch,

The smell of cookies after dinner,

The splashing sound of pink lemonade,

The stepping sound of the parade,

Lick, lick on the ice cream in a cone,

Weeeeeeeeeeee, down the slide,

Hop, hop, hop on the steps,

A pole from the playground monkey bars.

That’s what I would pack in my box marked summer.

The Schoolhouse

We had to be quiet when we came in because the schoolteacher was teaching math.  She was telling a math story problem.  She had a pink dress on, and she had long hair with a bonnet.  I chose the schoolhouse as my favorite place at Tunbridge Fair.  The seat felt not so good.  They were made out of wood.  I sat in a seat.  They had a paper stand, but it looked like a music stand.  They had to step onto a wide step.  When the teacher walked, I heard stomp, stomp, clop, clop.  It smelled like a cool breeze.  My favorite thing was the schoolhouse because it was like Little House on the Prairie.  I love Little House on the Prairie.

Ginger’s Engineering Reflection

It was hard to make my Scribble Bot stand up.  I felt like I would not finish my Bot or get it working.  I had some help from two other engineers though, and here it is!

Camp

I went to six different camps in Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont.  I went to Grammy and Bepa’s house.  I went to a waterpark and slept over in a hotel.  We slept on level three in room 312.

The audience for your writing will not only be students in your own classroom; it will include students in other elementary classrooms as well. Other trusted adults and students will comment on your writing, making suggestions that will help you to become a better writer.

Always post good writing to your blog. When you post comments about others’ writing, please be considerate and respectful as well as helpful. Treat other online members of this project the same way you would treat them if they were right there in the room with you.

You may not give out personal information, like your name, address, phone number, email address, or family information, to anyone – not even to other members of this project. When you work online on the internet, like we will be doing, it’s important to your safety that you keep personal information about yourself private – even if someone else asks.

If you ever see or read anything on your blog or someone else’s blog that disturbs you or makes you feel uncomfortable, please lower the lid on your computer and tell your teacher right away. She will know how to help.

Finally, be sure to let your parents know about this project. Every day, talk to them about what you’re doing and what you’re learning. They will be interested to hear about your new experiences!
