Fireflies are not flies.  They are beetles.  They live in forests, fields, and marshes.  Fireflies eat bugs, parts of flowers, and other fireflies.  The things that eat fireflies are frogs, birds, and mice.  They can turn their lights to green, yellow, and orange.

One day Lilly the ant was eating leaves.  Then she saw a cliff.

“Oh, no!  I can’t go home!” said Lilly.  “I guess I’ll have to jump over the cliff.  I have three body parts.  What’s the worst that can happen?”

She backed up, and then she ran as fast as she could.  She jumped!  She fell and she hurt herself.

When she got better, she rested and rested.  When she felt better, she played outside again.  Then she went home to read.  When she was reading, she fell asleep in the middle of a party, and Daddy Ant had to carry her upstairs.
